God's Plan For Your Life

For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
2 Corinthians 5:14-15

God has a wonderful plan for your life, and a lot of people my age would do anything to know what it is. It seems to be this thing that will one day just happen and then we will know exactly what to do with our lives and know exactly where we are going.

The truth? That will never happen.

God's "plan" is simple; to glorify God the Father by believing in Jesus and living a life pleasing to him while sharing his love with others through the help and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Our purpose in life is to know God and make him known. It's not rocket science and it's not hard to figure out. God most certainly does give us specific gifts, talents, and desires. He absolutely can guide us and lead us in a certain direction. But we are not robots, a lack of effort or responsibility is no excuse because we don't yet "know" what God's plan for our life is yet.

God's plan for your life is to love and serve him, but it is up to you in how you chose to do that. I fully believe that God is leading me to do certain things with my life, but I still must chose to work towards those things. I cannot expect to one day wake up and have everything I have set out to do laid at my feet. It is up to me to pray and follow and work hard towards my goals. Ironically, it seems that the closer you are with Jesus, the less you will be able to predict what will happen.

Ultimately we are sinful people in need of a savior, it's a surprise that God would use any of us at all. But he does, and he uses all of us in different ways. There are times when our selfish and sinful desires can lead us of track, or change our life entirely. It is not God's desire to see any of us turn against him, and it is certainly not his "plan" when that happens. God can lead us and show us where to go, but we can't expect to one day have it all figured out. God's desire for all of us is to know him and make him known, and it is up to you to decide how you want that accomplished.
